FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR PARENTS & GUARDIANS
1. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
The First Tee of Greater San Antonio is open to any child 5 – 18 years of age.
2. DO PARTICIPANTS NEED THEIR OWN GOLF CLUBS?
No. We provide clubs, balls, tees and any other equipment they might need. However, participants may bring their own golf clubs if they prefer.
3. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Participants pay $85 (per participant) for a 9-week season for The First Tee Life Skills and $75 (per participant) for a 6 week season for Tiny Tigers. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. Contact The First Tee of Greater San Antonio at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. In addition, attendance requirements MUST be met and participants must adhere to The First Tee Code of Conduct in order to receive credit for completing a class.
4. WHAT ARE THE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS?
Players must attend 7 out of 9 Core Value Lessons at each level. If lessons are missed during the 9-week season then they can be made up during the same week or during the next season you register for. In addition, each level requires a minimum number of hours to complete. The goal is to have multiple exposures to each core lesson over time.
5. HOW DO YOU REGISTER FOR CLASSES?
Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, please click here. The price per 9 week season is $85 (per participant). All new students begin at the Player level.
6. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GO THROUGH THE PROGRAM?
Members advance to different levels of The First Tee Life Skills Experience (Player, Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace Levels) at their own pace. This advancement depends on factors such as age, attendance as well as a member’s understanding and application of the required golf and life skills at each level.
7. CAN ANYONE USE THE FIRST TEE OF GREATER SAN ANTONIO PRACTICE FACILITIES?
Yes. The range at The First Tee Learning Center is open to the public except for special events and the last 2 weekends of the month. The First Tee members receive a price of $1 on range balls by showing the bag tag or book for their level. These $1 buckets are for the kids not the parents.
8. HOW DO YOU BECOME A THE FIRST TEE OF GREATER SAN ANTONIO MEMBER?
Create a parent account by going here, then add your participant, pay the Season Fee of $85 to be registered for a class. Scholarships are available and may be requested during registration.
